Who We Help

We focus our support on disadvantaged young musicians, enabling them to take part in musical opportunities that are readily available to their peers. We particularly welcome applications on behalf of looked-after individuals and those from single parent households.

By providing the necessary full or part-funding, we enable these young musicians to take part in short-term intensive high quality musical opportunities that will enhance their instrumental skills and help them develop an enduring love of playing an instrument.

Applicants must be aged 11 to 18 when the activity will take place, although in exceptional cases we support individuals aged 10 or 19.

They must have met the requirements for taking part in the activity and been offered the place in principle.

“This was an amazing opportunity! I got selected to lead the 2nd violins and I had many conversations with the conductor, learning how to bring the rest of my section in, deciding bowings and fingerings, counting complicated rhythms and much more.”

Erin, Stourbridge (Violin, National SchoolsSymphony Orchestra course)

The young musicians that we fund have normally reached ABRSM Grade 4 but not yet exceeded Grade 8 (i.e. not reached diploma level or equivalent) on the instrument for which they are applying.

We take up references before making a final decision. Referees are asked to confirm the details that appear in the application, to the best of their knowledge.
